What the Voynich Manuscript Won't Tell You: How to Actually Make Healthier Menstrual Blood
Share
As someone who has been using existing plants to heal, protect, and regulate my womb and all of her functions, I am beyond excited to see all of the discourse on actually creating plants with our own menses blood.
Since 2016 I have been feeding the earth my blood, making my own plants with my blood, and using my blood for skincare. Clearly, I'm all for using menstrual blood for good. But here's the piece nobody's talking about: the blood you're using is only as powerful as the womb it came from. When you have a clear womb, clear of trauma, clear of stagnation, clear of ailments, the life-giving blood you collect is a completely different substance than blood pulled from a womb that's been ignored for years.
Let's dive into the many ways we can get that blood as potent as possible.
Your blood is a report
I've said this to clients for years: your blood tells you exactly what's happening in your body. You just have to know how to read it.
- Crimson red, minimal cramping, flowing smooth — this is strong Qi, well-built blood, a womb that's circulating the way she's supposed to.
- Pale, watery, or pink, light headedness, fatigue — your body is running low. Not enough iron, not enough nourishment reaching where it needs to go.
- Dark, purplish, heavy with clots, cold extremities — this is stagnation. Cold womb, sluggish circulation, blood that's sitting instead of moving.
You don't need a manuscript to decode this. Your body's been handing you this report every single month.
How I build stronger blood — mine and my clients'
Steam first. This is non-negotiable in my practice. My Hemostatic blend — red raspberry leaf, nettle, motherwort, rose — exists to tone the uterine lining and build the blood you're working with month to month. If your blood is dark and clotted, a candle and a wish won't move that. Steam will.
Feed the blood you want to have. Nettle, red raspberry leaf, iron-rich and warming foods. Cold and raw food keeps a womb sluggish — if you're passing dark, stagnant blood, look at your plate before you look anywhere else. Warm foods like soups, teas, cooked fruits, cooked veggies will make it to where you are absorbing more nutrients and not shocking your system. Try my period tea!
Regulate your nervous system. Cortisol touches your flow, your cycle length, your blood quality directly. Breathwork for even just 10 minutes a day can help you lower your stress levels and help calm your womb.
Clear what keeps your body in fight-or-flight. Your womb doesn't know the difference between a deadline and a relationship that never lets your nervous system rest. If nothing else gets to settle, neither will your blood. Traditional Chinese medicine says that there is a direct channel between your heart and your womb. Any emotional stagnation can also affect your blood which undoubtedly affects your menstrual cycle.
Where to start
You don't need a decoded manuscript to start building stronger blood. You need a womb plan to support your healing.
If you're ready to start your journey, you can book a virtual consultation or an in person Introductory Yoni Steam, where I read your intake and build the blend your body needs, or the Ceremonial Steam if you're ready to go deeper. I also have four yoni steam blends you can purchase depending on what you need it for.
